New course starts soon
Love is a battlefield. We’ve known this since at least 1983. The cut and thrust of relationship is one of the most challenging and confronting dimensions of life experience. Yet who are the warriors? And who is in charge? Is it Me, Them or Us that I am constantly at war with?
The ancient Greeks were well versed in the arts of war and love. Centuries ago, they wrote two things above the Temple of the Oracle at Delphi-“Know Thyself” and “Nothing in Excess”. These words still apply for us today.
The Greeks epitomized a way of thinking that is once again emerging in our present age. You are responsible for creating your own reality, and will do well to become aware of when you seek too little or too much. By accepting responsibility for the relationships we create in our lives, we become masters of our own domain, the captain of the ship.
Another way of looking at this is in more poetic terms. Rainer Maria Rilke once said “What is within surrounds us”. Taken in the context of love and relationships, this means that what we carry within in us is what we are most likely to meet on the outside. The beliefs we have about ourselves and others will characterize the experiences that manifest for us in our lives.
Navigating the oceans of the heart is tricky business. 2500 years after the Oracle of Delphi, we still struggle to stay on course. Yet when the tool of astrology is applied for directional purposes, fascinating insights start to emerge. Through the study of your birth chart, you can begin to clearly understand what characterizes your view of your reality, and so identify areas within which you may choose to make a change.
The birthchart is a diagnostic tool, and shows us areas of strength and talent, as well as weakness and opportunity. It allows us to take a dispassionate view of what motivates and drives us, so that we can better steer ourselves toward what we really need. Understanding why repetitive patterns of disappointment in love seem to occur helps us to accept them. Accepting what is contained within the personality structure, for better or for worse, means we are three-quarters of the way to changing habits and perspectives that prevent us from experiencing peace and self-fulfillment. It is neither wishful thinking, nor new age psycho-bliss. It is a simple and fundamental facet of human nature that is eloquently spelled out in the birth chart.
From September 2008, we will be hosting regular courses on “Love in the Age of Aquarius”. Find out how astrology can help you to better understand yourself and your relationship with others. Comprehending your own chart better puts you in command. With an eagle-eye, General’s view you can survey the battle field to discover where the action lies. Once you see the territory clearly, you can take affirmative action to quell the discontent, and bring peace to all the land.
